BACCUS
We met Baccus in May 2006.

He was 15 months old. He had never raced and was on the waiting list to go into the GAP program.

I met him and fell in love with him. I introduced him to my son, and Baccus fell in love with him!

We took him home and Malibu the husky, instantly adored this new found leggy friend. The cats took a little longer!

We received many dirty looks, for introducing the intruder, and Baccus, was terrorised if he even thought of looking at them!

They came around eventually and now he succumbs to being groomed when they feel he is too dirty for their exacting standards!

And so our discovery of the wonder that is a greyhound began. The instant joyous speed, those adoring brown eyes, the thrill the first time he rolls over and presents his legs to the heavens, (the book says he's happy when he looks like a cockroach) and knowing that we were doing a good job of easing this young dog into normal life.
And then a question arose, "Why doesn't Nth Qld have a GAP?" The question was asked to several people, and after a few meetings and a little bit of organised chaos there WAS a GAP in Nth Qld.

And we came home every day to our gorgeous Baccus and the joy he exuded from every pore, and we knew the hard work was worth it. And when it all seemed overwhelming, and we wondered how we could possibly have been so insane to start such an undertaking, a black nose would appear under my elbow followed closely by warm brown eyes. Eyes that shine with love and humour.  Eyes that understand.

And there has never been a thankless day.

Every day we come home to a wonderful grey who thanks us for simply being.

Thanks Baccus.
