KARA
We first learned of the Greyhound adoption program at "The Brisbane Animal Expo" last year, and decided that a Greyhound would be perfect for us.

I have always dreamt of a dog that doesn't bark. The first few weeks whils she settled in were very interesting, a few things went missing from around the house like socks, and the cat's toys. Soon we got her some of her own.

She is very easy to look after, and a pleasure to own. Our Burmese cat has taken a little while to get used to her, but suprisingly it took less time than it did when we introduced another cat. The cat owns the dog, they have an understanding.

The first thing Cassie (our cat) does when let out of her run is to go straight to Kara and sniff her. Then she rubs her muzzle on her legs.

Kara loves to play with other dogs in the off-leash area. Sometimes if another dog chases her she will take off into a sprint and wear the persuant dog out. She often bows playfully to other dogs.
She also likes hide-and -seek.  Rules of play are that we wait until she is preoccupied with something then go and hide. Soon she realises that we have gone and will charge at full pace back to us.
An amusing thing is to see her when she is excited, such as just before walk time. She will run up to me but will sort of run and bow at the same time. This results in a kind of gammie walk that looks really funny. We have also taught her to jump over logs, also stay, sit and drop.

This was so easy to do, and we didn't even need to buy special treats as she is content with praise. She also rolls around on the grass on her back then springs to her feet to chase you.
Unlike many other dogs, she does not fetch, but we are working on that one.

I would recommend a Greyhound to anyone looking for a loyal pet.

I wish I had 5c for every person who thought that they were viscious. Whilst they will not aggressively guard your home, they make an absolutely wonderful trouble-free pet.

Thank you for yet another wonderful story.
