NITRO
I had never in the past, even thought or considered owning a Greyhound as a pet. Even though there is over 90 registered pure breed dog types in Australia, I never looked at the Greyhound as anything else but a racing dog.

From the age of 15, (that was a long time ago), I was always a "doggy" person who owned, trained and showed Irish Setters.  After my last Irish past away from old age, 6 years ago, I was looking for another Irish Setter as a companion dog.

Meanwhile, a dear friend or ours, who was involved in racing greyhounds, rang and told us that his greyhound was racing.  He invited us to the track to watch.  These dogs really intrigued me.

The elegant look, the stamina, the grace, the speed, the character, the temperament and the clincher - the eyes.

It wasn't long before we bought a pup.  The hardest part was leaving him at the rearing farm.  I know he had to be reared with other greyhound pups to become a racing dog - but boy, did I miss him, even though we visited him every weekend.

Unfortunately, he had an accident in the paddock at 7 months of age, and now would never become a racing greyhound.

Although it seemed to be a great tragedy at the time, I believe that everything happens for a reason.

We nursed him through his injury which mended exceptionally well.  That was nearly 3 years ago.

I have been involved in dogs of all and every breed and around show rings for many, many years, and these greyhounds really take the cake.  I can't explain just what it is, they just have this awe about them.  They return your love and affection ten fold.  He is the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to us.

He lives with our other dog and 5 cats.  He absolutely adores my grandson.  He loves people and loves lying on the couch watching TV.

Although, he didn't come from GAP, this testimony is to let people know just how wonderful and fulfilling a relationship with a Greyhound really is.
Just look into a Greyhounds eyes
and you will know what I mean.
