SMOKEY
Smokey came in to our lives only 8 weeks ago but is a true and bonafide family member.

He is a true gentle giant around our two children but they both run laughing to the couch when I get his lead from the cupboard.

They love to see our big placid boy tear around in circles and it's a big game for him to as I try to get the lead on his collar.

We live in South Australia but thanks to the wonderful people at GAP up there in Queensland Smokey came into our lives and melted our hearts including my husbands'. When we are having ice-cream Richard gets Smokey a bowl too.
He has his own bed and quilt and he has his own lounge, yes he's spoilt but why not he asks for so little and gives so much. I wish we could have another 10 just like him. This will be Smokey's first Christmas since finishing his racing career back in June of this year and I know there will be a few extra presents under the tree for him too.

Smokey has got it made - thankyou to the Johnson Family for your lovely story.
And the Story continues - Smokey's 1st Anniversary

In just 11 days time our beautiful boy Smokey aka Elders Boy will have been a part of our family for a whole year so I thought I would give a little update.

My girls are so attached to him now especially my eldest daughter Brooke who loves to scratch him behind his ears so that Smokey will put his head in her lap.

He happily follows her around the house when she calls him and Brooke also loves it when she gets to give him his dinner at night because she says that he is her friend.
I have also become a foster carer for GAP in Sth Aust. and Smokey has been a great help to the other dogs as he is so relaxed about everything they just seem to copy what he does.

One thing I must admit that even after a year he will still try and sneak on the good lounge suite when I leave the room for a minute, not all the time just some of the time. So now he has 2 feather quilts to keep him a bitwarmer and a little bit more comfy.
At first my dear husband thought I was spoiling him to much but after having fosters in the house he realises just what a well behaved and well mannered boy he is...lol.

SMOKEY - A GREAT AMBASSADOR FOR THE S.A. ADOPTION PROGRAM

Although Smokey was adopted from the Queensland Greyhound Adoption Program, he has been hard at work with his owner Shirley, promoting the Greyhound as a Pet in South Australia.

Smokey, is working just as hard for the retired greyhounds as he did at his racing career.

Of course, it helps, when his owner and companion is so dedicated.  Smokey's rewards are simple - hugs, kisses and a lot of love from his family.

Yet another wonderful greyhound showing people just how wonderful they really are.

Thank you Smokey.....!!!!!
