I was born in Victoria on 7 July 2000. When I grew up I was taught how to race out of a
box when the front opened and chase a fake bunny. My racing name was Gilt Edged and I raced only 11 times.
My then NSW owner thought it was time I had some offspring. I was mated and had two puppies, one black and one white. They were born in Queensland. This was not a good move as I started to haemorrhage and was spayed.
With my racing career now over I was given to GAP QLD for them to find me a new home, where I could spend some happy times, give my new owners all my love and to have a proper home.
The next thing I knew, a large cage arrived and we boarded a flight to Melbourne to my
new home in Victoria on 27 November 2003. This is where I was born.
It was a very hot day when I arrived I found a family I could call my own.
They had built a kit cubby house with a nice beanbag doggy bed and pillow, for my night sleeps (when not chasing possums), while inside I have a lovely soft round bed with blanket.
The very best thing is having a new grey friend who also loves me, RACER.
He welcomed me with a kiss and we are great mates.
Racer and I eat together, walk together and it is so wonderful in my new home. We have a dual lead - when he stops I stop and vice versa.
Guess what - no more muzzles.
We visit a lot of new places and my special place is at Lazy Acres Warragul
where we can really have a good run. Chasing a ball with /Racer is great.
The dogs and people I have met pat and cuddle me and I am soooo happy.
I had a wonderful Christmas which was spent with my owners, and Racer, at Warragul on 1 ½ acres.
I am loving my new life and new friends so very much and am training people who do not know about greyhounds that we are loving, friendly animals - disposing of the myths and stories which abound.
The first question my owners are asked is usually `do they bite', the next `do they race', ` do they cost much to feed' and where other owners have little barkers used to cross to the other side of the street or pick up their little flyffy bundles, they do not do this any more.
We are giving a safe loving message about the many misconceptions in promoting greys to all.
When we visit our busy up-market shopping area we now come home covered in lipstick - mainly from lonely people who have now been educated and love us for being greys.
