Week 1; To start with our little girl was a bit unsure of herself and was content to sit on one of our big comfy chairs and even had to be coaxed off the chair for her food. She was quite happy to go for a walk though, but very glad to be back on the lounge. From the outset she gave our cat a wide berth even to the point that she would not even make eye contact with him.
Week 2; This week saw her settle in a lot, a big increase in interest of her food and now she will hop off her chair to come and say hello or let us know it is time for dinner. She sleeps inside and we are in a good routine of last thing at night and first thing in the morning she is let out for the toilet. We take her for a walk every day and it is such a pleasure, no pulling etc. and when we pass other people she doesn't want to jump up or annoy them. It's amazing how many people comment on how gentle she is.
Week 3; The tail wags a lot now (compared to week 1). We have taken her in the water a couple of times and she loves it, we usually take her on a walk down to the local 'off-leash' area( its great, probably about 300 metres long and 100 wide) which she enjoys if there are not too many other dogs in there, but she is getting better with them. The first few times there she would hardly leave my side but is starting to venture further away each time and generally learning that she can do what she wants and have fun with a good run.
Week 4; We are really starting to see her real Stella now, she really gets excited when she knows we are going for a trip in the car or going for a walk (I have a backpack we take whenever she is coming with us- containing plastic bags etc. trouble is she can't tell the difference between it and my work backpack and gets all excited as I leave for work thinking that she is off somewhere).
Week 5; It's great to see her in the off-leash area now, actually approaching the other dogs and starting to run around with some of them, she is really into the routine now. She is looking really well, Sheree suggested we put some Olive oil on her food a few times and now her coat shines, she has some dry food for breakfast and a mix of dryfood and leftovers or mince for dinner, but her favourite is when we go to work she is given a raw chicken wing or chicken frame which she loves. Then last thing at night she gets a '4x2' biscuit to go off to bed.
Week 6; Stella got very excited playing with some dogs at the off-leash area and we heard our dog bark for the first time! She loves going there now, half an hour there is plenty for her though, she slows down a lot after that. A few times she has played with a whippet who is usually there when we are and she plays hard for awhile but when he just keeps going and going and she loses interest.
