Suzi finally arrived and walked into our lives as if she had always been there. That included sleeping on the couch within the first ten minutes with her legs in the air and into bed with us for cuddles at night.
We have had Suzi now for 7 months and it seems that she has trained us to her liking as she never gives us anything to complain about with her.
Suzi and our cats, Nugget and Lizzy live happily together. She loves to join them in running up and down the hall way and when they are sleeping she will go up to them and bow down and bark as she hasn't had enough play time. When they fail to arise for her she will take it out on all of her toys, which she playful tosses around the lounge room until she finds the right one to snuggle up with in her bean bag.
Since adopting Suzi, we have helped out at different displays and events to try and get as many other people as possible to start thinking of these dogs as pets and to break down all of the misconceptions that many have with regard to them. My husband has taken to this so passionately he is now one of the Coordinators for the program. While doing this we have met so many wonderful people and made what we know will be lifelong friendships.
As you can see my opinions of these wonderful dogs has done a full circle and they have changed my life for the better. I can't imagine not having Suzi here with us. We fell so in love with her we now foster other Greyhounds on a full time basis and its nothing to have 2-3 dogs all at once following me every time I head into the kitchen "Snack time is in the kitchen" so they all tell me.
I love having the foster dogs here but when they leave for their new homes I'm a little sad to see them go but then I look at Suzi and I remember how I felt when she first came to us and I know their new owners are feeling the same joy that we did.
After a long day at work there is no better feeling than to be greeted at the door by wagging tails and smiling faces. The unconditional love given by these dogs is something nobody should be without.
We are currently waiting for a partner for Suzi and I just know that he will train us and love us as she does. I can't wait for the new edition to our family.
Thank you so very much to GAP for all their help and advice and for introducing us to these beautiful dogs.
